I’ve been shy for as long as I can remember, and learning to meet that part of myself with compassion has been a lifelong practice. Because of this, I deeply understand what it’s like to walk into therapy feeling nervous, guarded, or overwhelmed.
That’s why I’ve intentionally designed EMDR intensives specifically for shy clients—a space that prioritize gentleness, emotional safety, and comfort.
My approach moves at your pace, honoring your nervous system while supporting meaningful, lasting healing.
You don’t have to push yourself to be louder, faster, or different here. You get to be exactly who you are.
Let’s be honest—life can be busy, loud, and just…extra. For shy and introverted nervous systems, all that stimulation can feel overwhelming, often leading to withdrawal or isolation just to recover and feel steady again.
Our culture tends to celebrate being outgoing, bold, constantly expressive, and “unapologetically yourself.” While that works for some, it can feel unsafe, exhausting, or simply too much for those of us who move through the world more quietly.
Shy individuals are often overlooked or misunderstood, which can slowly erode confidence and self-esteem. You may find it hard to build or maintain friendships and relationships, leaving you feeling rejected, lonely, or unseen.
Over time, these experiences can turn inward—showing up as beliefs like “I’m inadequate,” “I’m too sensitive,” “I’m boring,” or even “I don’t matter.”
If this resonates, please know there is nothing wrong with you. Your way of being makes sense—and it deserves care, understanding, and gentleness.
The Shy Awakening EMDR Intensive is designed with shy nervous systems in mind. These sessions are longer—typically 2–4 hours—which allows plenty of time to settle in, build trust, and feel comfortable with both me and the therapy process. For many shy clients, weekly hour-long sessions can feel rushed, as much of the time may be spent simply getting comfortable enough to begin opening up.
As someone who personally understands shyness, I attune closely to your cues and level of comfort. You don’t have to find the perfect words or advocate for your needs in ways that feel hard—I’ll adapt the process to you, even when those needs are difficult to verbalize.
This work is not about fixing you or turning you into someone you think you should be in order to fit in. Instead, the focus is on honoring and celebrating who you already are at your deepest level.
Through EMDR therapy (using eye movement to process difficult experiences or emotions and using other emotional tools as needed), we’ll gently work on improving your relationship with yourself and softening long-held beliefs such as “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t express myself,” “I’m not safe,” or “I’m inadequate.” The goal isn’t dramatic change overnight, but subtle, meaningful shifts that help your nervous system feel safer.
A little less tightness in your stomach. Fewer spirals of self-criticism or regret. More moments of ease and self-acceptance. These are real wins. Allowing yourself to simply be—without constant negative thoughts or nervous system overwhelm—is a powerful and deeply nourishing gift to yourself.
Step 1: Start with a free 30-minute consultation This is a low-pressure space for us to meet, get a feel for one another, and answer any questions you may have. No commitments—just a gentle first connection.
Step 2: Schedule your intake appointment If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule an intake session. This time is mostly conversational, allowing me to learn about your history, your experiences, and what may be ready to be processed through EMDR. We move slowly and thoughtfully here.
Step 3: Begin your EMDR intensive When you’re ready, you’ll schedule your first intensive session. Intensives are 2–4 hours long, with breaks as needed. You can choose to schedule a single intensive or multiple sessions, depending on your needs and comfort level.
The intensive sessions are EMDR-focused and experiential—meaning we’re not just talking, but actively working with eye movements and other EMDR tools to process emotions and experiences.
Everything is paced with care, attuned to your nervous system, and designed to support deep healing without overwhelm.
You don’t have to rush. We’ll move at your pace, every step of the way.
